Project Description
For this project we were assigned to create a Brochure with pictures of an object that we have been taking pictures of throughout the semester. We needed to pick an article or interesting reading peace that we felt would work well with these pictures. I used an Eiffel Tour souvenir from my trip to Paris as my object to take pictures from. For my written content, I used a compilation of poems that I found on the internet.

After designing my Brochure in InDesign, I used a free brochure mock up to help me see how my brochure would look like when printed. This was the result.

These are the images I used to complete my brochure. Overall I was pleased with the end result given the time and resources available to me. I think I was able to create beautiful images using dark backgrounds and then bringing more variety and contrast by using bright and vivid color either from other pictures or the yellow boxes I used for some of my written content. I also think the darkness I used is very strong with my poems theme since poems tend to be serious. Perhaps a better font choice may have helped me communicate my theme better. This is an area I needed to explore more. However, I do not dislike the type choices I made. I just think they could be improved.

For this stage of the project, I actually first research several types of brochures on the internet to help me come up with a layout I would feel pleased with. I used sites such as Pinterest, Behance and Instagram under the "brochure" search word to help me with guidance and inspiration. I also decided to explore using Google. I found that there are much better examples using the more professional sites rather than Google. After some research, I decided to go with something simple and big images for the most part. I also wanted to leave as much negative space as I could without making the brochure look empty. Something else I decided to apply to my design was how an image or block of text are used in the two pages of the same spread. I think it looks very beautiful and interesting, and it was something I decided to try for some of my spreads.
