BRANDING & PACKAGING

Client: University project set by Keith Forbes from Good Creative (Glasgow)

I chose the Pentland Hills (at Erraid Wood) as the location for my distillery due to the panoramic views it provides – which would lend well to a café/bar – but also due to the recent replenishment of juniper berries in that area – a key ingredient in gin. The heat used in the process of making gin would be re-used in the cafe/bar to heat the premises.

At the distillery, each customer purchases a bottle with the focus of re-using it. The swing top bottle is perfect for this as it is known as the 'keeper bottle.' I developed an idea for a gin jacket, which is inter-changeable so that whenever the customer brings their bottle to re-fil, they pick a jacket according to the flavour of their gin. This jacket is made from hemp and is completely bio-degradable.

There is also a Cherry Trail as part of the educating process at the distillery. You receive a small book that details your journey and is worn like a necklace. Upon your return to the distillery you are entitled to purchase the gift set which is a beautiful bamboo planter filled with your flavour of gin, garnishes, seeds to plant once you are finished and plant labels.
