For this assignment, I chose to make a commentary on “weaboo” or Western Japanophile culture. Although there is more serious nuance to this topic, I chose the more light-hearted route in my designs for the assignment. The use of the subculture’s linguistics were used to poke fun at people who have had the “weaboo” experience and to bring self-awareness through a self-deprecating humor. In response to more serious vein of the topic, I wanted to create simple items that could be easily taken on the go. Serious issues taken in a light-hearted matter is not something I do but I am interested in the departure through humor.
