Spring 2016 - Books, Boxes, Patterns

Hell yeah! With this book I tackled one of my favorite genres and favorite couple of bands, making a book all about history, statistics, and general information about some influential big-name pop-punk stars. I tackled Billboard 200 Album charting, numbers of charting singles, word frequency in all lyrics, history, and more. Packed with content and graphics, this book totals 51 pages.
For Penguin Playing Cards, I attempted to approach playing cards in a way unlike those classic Bicycle cards I know. Rather than go for something illustrative I ran towards the symbolic and text-heavy, focusing on the most recognizable elements of playing cards and distilling to just that. Graphic and dark, this set presents itself only as what it is: versatile cards for dozens of different types of games!
I made geometric shape patterns that work as colored designs as well as simple line art, giving completely different effects and feels in each implementation. With the intention of creating all-over t-shirt designs I tackled this thing head-on and explored different ways to make something awesome for someone to wear, and what better way to do that than with weird geometry? Vibrating lines, faux-perspective cubes, wild color stripes, and more are here to see. (You can also see a fabric test print above of one of the patterns.)
