The intent of these series was to create a visual uniform collection of abstract black and white photos that expressed the concept of multiplicity in a unit. I selected photos from my latest trips that had visual repetition of elements and patterns and also that communicates a sense of unity within their variety. A contrasting but also harmonic relationship between the parts of a unit is one of the most primitive relationships of the world. Everything, although particular, belongs to a certain kind of uniformity. I wanted the photos to be abstracted to the level of low resolution quality, in order to reach the essential light and shadow of each image. This low resolution or soft image effect was inspired by the work of Jim Campbell and his low-fi led lights installations. The blur effect in my work was achieved by projecting the images on the wall of my room and blurring the lens of the projector. By serendipity, the wall of my room had a corner and when I was setting up the projector I saw the opportunity to explore certain spatial quality and also to engage further the concept of “multiplicity in a unit” by dividing the one image into two frames. Therefore, this series represent an exploration of photography within the photo, because I was taking pictures of pictures with a different Media (the projector) in order to reach an aesthetic language. This work also stands as a personal valediction of my year as an exchange student. Throughout these last months I had the opportunity to travel to different countries and places and the production of this final work was an attempt to unite in one language varies memories of varies places.
