Project: DC SPCA Mural
Theme: Animals / Pets
Mill Street Loft's NAHS members including me have worked hard on this mural and have completed this within a month. This was a challenging piece since it was my first time working on a mural, however, it was very enjoying and rewarding to be part of this whole art making process.
On Tuesdays we would work for 2-3 hours and on Saturdays we worked from 9,10am to about 5pm.
Some of the photos - credit goes to Todd P.
And a big thank you to Jackie's family for helping us out throught this whole process!
(Day 1 pictures are missing but what happened was that we primed the boards and we used a projector to transfer the design onto the final surface.)
Starting to paint.
Painting individual animals/panels; these panels will be mounted on the big background panels.
Painting the background panels made up of 4 square panels. I mostly worked on the hearts and trying to get the contrast right and find the appropriate balance between two complimentary colors on each square panels.
Working further more on individual square panels.
Working further more on the individual animal panels.
Finalizing and refining.
Putting all the pieces together and formiing one big heavy mural.
Presenting the mural at the Friend of the Arts Award hosted by MSL.
The mural was given to the Dutches SPCA as a gift for sponsoring MSL.
