Subdivision Surfaces Design Environment in AutoCAD

SubDivision Surface Design Enviroment
Autodesk, 2008
The subdivision modeling design environment integrates into AutoCAD's existing 3D creation and editing tool set. This new surface type will possesses characteristics of both polygon and NURBS surfaces.

As with NURBS surfaces, this new surface type is capable of producing smooth organic forms, and can be shaped using relatively simple existing 3D objects.

As with Polygon object, this new surface type will enable users to extrude specific areas and create detail when it is required. This is accomplished by having the ability to work at different component levels of detail on an subdivision surface.

The resulting 3D models can be fabricated and follow tolerances that makes in possible to include in classic solid modeling workflow and processes.
