Both of these jackets feature handmade title typography and my own photography. I created the imagery for the On the Road jacket by assembling a miniature paper mache mountain range and photographing it, then combining it with the scan of the title in Photoshop. This choice was inspired by a line in the book where one character describes the Rocky Mountains as "paper mache mountains," and the use of a typewriter texture and typeface was based on the novel's famous typewritten manuscript.

 

The jacket for The Remains of the Day was created in Photoshop from multiple overlaid photographs, including images of cloudy skies and astrologic clocks, referencing the themes of time and memory present in the book.
