‘Bon Appetoot’

In Canada, some Inuit cultures will (ahem) break wind at the end of a meal as an act of appreciation.

‘Cherry Slurps’

In Japan, loudly slurping soup and noodles is acceptable and is sign of enjoying your food. It is even thought to improve the flavour of the dish.

‘Huldufólk Feast’

In Iceland, cakes are left out for the Huldufólk (or elves) to take away and eat.

‘Good Doggies’

This piece is dedicated to my Mam and Dad. Inspired by my own family and is a reflection of many others around Ireland and further, where dogs (and other animals) are treated as equal members of the family.
‘Respect your Elders’

In South Korea, respect would be paramount at all occasions. The dinner table is no exception. Here the oldest person seated eats first and everyone else must wait until they take a bit. (But what if your Granny takes ages!)
‘Pig Parade’

Peru is the scene for a guinea pig fancy dress competition. Unfortunately for the contestants, they are eaten following the prizes being given and winners announced.
‘Clink, Don’t Blink, Drink’

In Austria, when celebrating and clinking drinking glasses it is necessary to look each other in the eye while doing so.
