Flapper Girl Stickers

  • One of the most recognized icons of the Roaring Twenties was the flapper girl. Characterized as young city women wearing fashionable clothing and a bobbed haircut, flappers redefined the traditional role of women in society: they danced at jazz clubs at night, smoked cigarettes, drove cars, and dated casually for example. Despite the negative and positive outlooks on these women, they were able to express themselves freely and empowered themselves by defying previous social conventions. In response, I created a series of drawings depicting some of the many things that flappers did in their time. I strove for a graphic style and lighthearted feel to each drawing. They eventually turned out to become stickers.
