Daily painting has become my new mission. I am starting out with subject matters that are not very complicated: simple still life in very simple compositions. My first daily painting series, "Doughnuts for Breakfast" are all done from direct observation. Food being the subject matter definitely got me very nervous however, helped me to work faster than usual (before it spoils).  As a highly detail oriented person, I enjoy the time restriction because it forces me to go loose in order to complete a painting (from start to finish) within a day or two. 

The idea of having a doughnut for breakfast always excites me! My goal was to be able to depict the bright delicious colors and textures of the pastries. I hope that the series would temp the viewers to run to a nearby bakery to pick up some sweet goodness for breakfast.
