Oil Spill Series (WWF Climate Change Awareness Week)

BP Oil spill, Gulf of Mexico, 2010 -  "The spill was so large that a swirl of oil in the Gulf could be seen from outer space."
Fergana Valley, Uzbekistan, 1992 - "88 million gallons of oil were dumped into the sea. We're not going to be able to track every drop."
il spills in fresh water bodies are less publicized than ocean spills, though they can be more frequent and more destructive. Sediments collect at the banks of rivers, clinging to plants and trees and suffocating the marsh animals that live in these ecosystems.
