This book is hand crafted on the April 15th, 2016.This book contains informations and sources gathered from two books that I picked out from the Decker Library.
Two books are Yves Saint Laurent, written by Farid Chenoune and Saint Laurent Rive Gauche: Fashion Revolution2 written by Pierre Berge and Jeromine Savignon.
This book is printed on Rives BFK tan paper to give a bit of an old fashioned feel to it. I have incorporated scanned images from the books with my own hand drawn fashion illustration, creating see through effects in a collaged
sketchbook format. Small book in the back that has scanned images from Yves Saint Laurent contains pages printed on Chartham Vellum paper. This book as a whole embodies abundant information ranging from Yves Saint
Laurent’s biography, his very collection to his very last one.
I have explored using range of different materials with this project. I made a sliding plexiglass top for my box with Yves Saint Laurent laser cutted on it, so that when people first approach my box to look at my book could feel like they are getting a fabulous gift. Inside my box I placed my book that is made in accordion and flag book format. For the front cover and the back, I also used plexiglass painted with fluid gold, white acrylic and laser cutted it to add marble look to it. I wanted to provide as much content as I could, so I also placed documentary film on life of Yves Saint Laurent and small cards that list key life events of Yves Saint Laurent. I have read, recorded, sketched,
and typed everything referencing from the books to provide accurate information.
