META is a collaborative publication comprised of articles written and designed about various moments in design ranging from contemporary aesthetic to "The Kuelshov Effect". I wrote, edited, and designed a section examining the "ugly" aesthetic. As designers we are constantly at the crossroads where trends become history, and examining them is important to our understanding of style. The section serves as a critique and retrospective of the movement and presents an argument both for and against the ironic style.
