A glance around a modern parking lot shows a sea of nearly identical vehicles dominated by monochromatic shades of black, silver, and white. Cars from every manufacturer are seemly cut from the same mold, with very little distinction. This is a sharp contrast to the designs and styles of vehicles from decades past where unique body lines, trims and moldings, windows, and even headlights and taillights gave character to “classic” American cars and trucks.
The middle of the 20th century is a period in automotive history, where each vehicle has its own unique styling and features that set it apart from the rest of the competition. Today these differences stand out even more, contrasting with the bland cookie cutter designs of the 21st century. This series is a journey from the 1920s to the 1970s, highlighting the features and details that illustrate the character and style from a bygone era in automotive history.
