This is one of homework projects for Illustration Portfolio class at SVA.

I got an excerpt from a novel of Neil Gaiman. It is a short story, The Mapmaker.

After I read it, I decided to pick a scene where the emperor was discussing to the minister of the right hand about his idea of building everything at the same size of the actual world.

So my idea was to make the surface of the pool in the garden they were in reflected the world he wanted to build at the same size as the real one. I made it looked like a blue print which represented how much delicate work they had to accomplish.

The teacher liked the idea of blueprint. But she had me the colour issue to concern.
