Summer is good but Fall is great. The last few weeks of summer followed by the cacophony of color that is autumn in southern Saskatchewan.
I feel like I was able to get some really good work done in August and I wasn't sure what to expect for September. Things have started to slow down now that summer has faded to fall, providing more opportunity to get out and explore.
I ended up shooting quite a bit of Cinestill last month. While the results from the 50D were not exactly what I may have wanted, I was very happy with the results achieved with the 800T. It's now worked its way into my "save for a special occasion" stash.
Another films stock that has creeped its way up into my favorites shortlist is Ilford's FP4. I was lucky enough to score a can of it very cheaply and thanks to the community on twitter, I've learned to really appreciate it. It was my first #FP4Party and I had a great time. It also helped having some foggy adventures thanks to the warm autumn days and cooler mornings.
The month also allowed some flexibility for experimentation and gave me a chance to try some other new films I haven't yet tried before. Rolls like Portra 400NC, Lomo Purple, Fuji Neopan, and the recently discontinued Fuji FP-100C. There are definitely a few more favorites after this month.
Not only did I furnish the majority of my crisper drawers with fancy film stock, I also treated myself to a new scanner. I'm happily scanning my 35mm films with the Pakon F135 Plus and really speeding up my workflow. The less time I spend scanning is more time I can go find something to point a camera at, like neon signs
