Following MDD patients' recovery on a weekly basis... online!
The clinical trials had shown that AstraZeneca's atypical antipsychotic showed significant efficacy in MDD patients' treatment as soon as week 1. That was obviously exciting, but we knew it represented a huge challenge: we had to prove to the physicians this wasn't "too good to be true", as usual antidepressant therapies take 3-4 weeks to achieve an effective response.
We knew it would be impossible for physicians to get the chance to make the follow-up with their patients after just one week... most of the patients would only come back after 4-6 weeks!
Taking this into consideration, we decided to build a new solution that could address this particular problem - a where the patient could fill, each week, a self-accessment questionnaire (Beck's questionnaire), allowing his physician to follow the improvements in a weekly basis.
