When creating this series I was thinking a lot about sexuality and perceived gender roles leading me to think about how even in gay communities, it is frowned upon when one is more "feminine". It is common to see on gay dating and hookup sites the term "Masc4Masc" which is a term used by a more "masculine" man searching for a more "masculine" man. It isn't unlikely to see phrases like "no fems!" or "masc only!" on these sites as well, perpetuating this idea that in today's society it is okay to be gay, but only as long as you stay within your own gender role's stereotype. My series, Mask4Masc depicts the struggle of conforming, this act of putting on the mask, to perceive oneself in a way socially that they will be accepted.
