Porn Abstraction
An Experimental Film
I'm interested in the form as the subject matter, and in how mundane, ordinary things, or in this case, obscenities can be transformed when the manipulation of their abstract qualities become the basis of a film. In this piece, I filmed pornographic videos from the internet displayed on my laptop, and by not focusing and being extremely close to the screen I mutated their forms until getting a blurred and faded effect.
Superficially, the video shows forms in their reduced shapes and primitive movements, and subconsciously we interpret them differently giving them a total personal meaning. I decided to take "porn" as the subject to challenge the conventional re-designing visuals, playing with expectations and meanings. In contrast to its visual part, I try to present a tough topic in a subtle way; perhaps this idea serves as a parallelism of how pornography being harmful carries a soft cape that makes it seem like normal in our society.
