Uranophobia: fear of heaven
I made this sculpture to represent a phobia, and I chose Uranophobia since it interested me. This sculpture means a lot to me, as I started it with a vague idea of what I wanted it to be, and ended with an entirely different concept, and a new understanding of this phobia. Fear of heaven isn't exactly a fear of being in paradise. It's a fear of meeting God, it's a fear of seeing someone you never wanted to see again.
a gouache still life painting of fruit and vegetables.
an EMAC self portrait, hand lettering done on photoshop (words by Katy Maxwell)
my final drawing 1 project "Tradition and Innovation," where I was supposed to take a drawing tradition (in my case a medieval illuminated manuscript known as a Bestiary) and innovate on it. I decided to illustrate and hand bind my own bestiary using modern techniques.
going clockwise from the left: 1. An abstract drawing for a homework assignment. 2. a study of a statue in Main. 3. a study of a glass head in class.
Lino-Cut prints of teeth I made for fun. Three layers of colors (blue, pink and yellow)
A spread from a zine made for EMAC.
