BLOBSTONE - A HOUDINI PROJECT
First, spheres are packed on the scanned stone, using a dynamics solver written in VEX. They push each other out of the way, while keeping contact to the stones surface, and they avoid static invisible spheres to form holes in the packing. Then the spheres are converted to volumes and advected with a custom vector field to make them conform to each other. Rendered in Redshift3D for Houdini.
