Study of Form: Point/Line/Shape

Introduction
This project aims to study form through the application of three elements of design: point, line and shape. Form or composition refers to “the total appearance of all the art elements, according to the principles of organization, that achieves a unified whole”. The use of point and line in the development of shape and the subsequent contribution of shape in the structural organization of form will be studied and analyzed.

The project we need to study and create point/line/shapes. The image I took was a picture of a wolf. I choose this image because I wanted to portray the beauty and elegance of the lone wolf in the image.

The process i did to create the finish product was to trace the original picture on to tracing paper to make an outline. I proceeded to create thumbnails of the outline to create different design of the wolf. I chose to do cross contouring to highlight the curvatures of the wolf face. I use 6B pencil to start the rough copy of the cross contour wolf on to tracing paper. Once I finalize the design I transfer the design to a 10 x 15 white board. Then i retrace the image using felt tip pen to create the final product.

It was quite an interesting experience to change the style to portray the wolf.If I redo it in the future, I would try to combining more variation of point and line. Overall I'm quite happy with the end result
