Putting down a line drawing with a pen. In the next phase, when I started to apply paint (mostly coloured ink, thin and transparent), an accident happened: one of the inks turned wild, it was far more intensive than rest of the line (from that brand), too orange, and impossible to wash out. Accident was happy one after all, it directed me to continue with acrylic paints. Acryl can be fun and quick, but it has downsides: it "eats" lot of drawing information beneath, and is basically a plastic material.
Nearly finished. Finally, this illustration has several techniques mixed, but I think everything fitted nicely; pens, bits of printed photos, ink paint, acryl paints, and some pencils.
Finished work, a detail.
"Istradiv", a giant which symbolizes Istria, the land. The illustration was commissioned in 2014 by LegendFest, a Croatian festival of legends, and was applied for a poster and other visuals of the festival. It was exhibited at curated Biennial of illustration Zagreb, in 2014. Though it didn't win any prize, article in papers claimed it was 'a masterpiece of illustration'. Naturally I was glad, and later I've learned that article author wasn't only a journalist, but also a top expert in fashion and applied arts in my country.
