FILMS
CHARLIE KNOTT
2015-2016
The following films are expressions of light and emotion. My characters and their experiences are windows into my own personal struggles, manifested for the viewer so that no one may truly feel alone.
Lower, 2016

"Only in dreams do we hurt."
Lower tells the story of Helena (Dani Brodsky) and Cass (Isabella Kuhn) as the two drift apart from one another. Living in dreams, the only freedom will be their fight.
Lazy Days, 2016

"We used to do that, see things that were invisible."
Lazy Days follows the life of an imaginary friend, Red (Dylan Margolis) as he questions his place within the life of his companion/best friend Abby (Georgia Beatty).
Inspired by the works of Bill Watterson.
Pulse, 2015

"Our feelings are only artificial."
The following short film expresses the nuance between feelings that are natural and things that are forced, seen through the digital "enhancements" of noisy color, mixed with the beauty of light. As an artist, labeling one as natural and the other as forced seems impossible.
Confused Energy, 2015

"Everything is overwhelming."
The following short animation is an expression of extreme anxiety.
I Was Lost, 2015

"Everything's going to hurt. It's how you deal with it that counts."
The following short film tells the story of David, a young man with an emotional crutch in the form of a tape recorder. Going about his time self-logging and using his tape recorder to express his thoughts, David's crutch acts as his voice.
Starring Devin Halladay.
and the voice of Rosie Casciero.
Original Screenplay by Syd Miller and Charlie Knott.
Stability Is So Hard To Find, 2015

The following short film is an expression of the rigidity and suffocation that is felt with depression, as well as the anxiety that is experienced through a bipolar disorder.
There was no greenscreen or chroma-keying involved in the filming process - just an LCD projector and my figure.
Veil, 2015

"They say that beauty’s in the eye of the beholder
But no one said that I had to understand beauty
No one told me I had to respect it
Leave it be when it needed time."
The following short, experimental film aims at explaining to the viewer that in order to understand beautiful things, one must accept beauty for what it truly is, and not what the beholder wishes it to be.

Washing Away The Memories, 2015

"The hardest part is change."
The following short film expresses a time of transition in one's life, in which choices are made as to whether or not to dwell on old memories.
In collaboration with Cole Dininno.
Submerged, 2015

"All of us are blind to pain."
The following short film expresses the perspective that we are all blind to the things that hurt us most.
Starring Isabella Kuhn.
Calling, 2015

While one can go out of their way to find greatness, the most fulfilling source of happiness can be found where you are truly loved - home.
