SYMVANA
‘A Universe of 12 symbols which helps one attain the ultimate design nirvana.’
Symvanism as a religion is based on symbols. How symbols are the basic units of visual language, this religion too is a base/visual language consisting of 12 symbols derived from 12 virtues which guides/governs/helps one to create a good design; Design Nirvana (an ideal design achievement/ state of fulfilment).
These 12 virtues and their respective symbols have a story behind them:
Centuries ago, a soul named IKOS wandered the untravelled lands. He came across a cave and saw these beautiful images drawn on the inside of that cave. This intrigued him. He wanted to know what these signs meant, what every shape signified and how did they appear there. Ikos decided to not leave that cave unless and until he got his answers. He sat there, meditating. A meditation so deep it lasted for 12 months. Each month meant growth and progress. Eventually Ikos was enlightened. He was enlightened with 12 virtues which explained the existence of the cave designs. These virtues developed into the 12 main symbols of the Symvana religion. One shall follow these to create good designs.
Years later Ikos came to be known as ‘Graphikos : the spirit of design’. The 12 virtues found their symbols and Symvanism found it’s followers. The people started to understand the importance the 12 symbols and how it helped them imbibe the design ethics. Each symbol has a rich history. Every line and dot in the symbols possesses energy and enlightenment.
Today, Graphikos resides in every person. It is omnipresent. Some notice it and some don’t. Those who do follow the 12 virtues diligently to attain the ultimate design nirvana.
The 12 virtues Graphics was enlightened with are as follows. In this Universe of symbols, the 12 symbols are represented in the form of 12 constellations using basic dots and lines.
