These were the most complicated books that I worked on while at Publications International. I worked closely with an editor to establish the story of the book and then sketched out the layout. For the Dora book, we were able to request new licensed artwork. Once I received the finished artwork, I created mechanical files for the pop-ups that I engineered. I was constrained with the number of folds and glue-points, and had to make sure the pop-ups didn't get stuck. The Winnie the Pooh book was very challenging because I had to work with existing artwork. I had to cobble together assets from previous books and photoshop all new scenes, often working with flat files that did not have layers.
