Chang'e flying to the Moon: Shadow Play
At the ancient China, there was a great man named HouYi. Hou Yi was always helpful and he helped the people in his villages to tide over a lot of disasters.Hou Yi had a beautiful wife named Chang’e. As the reward of his heroism, the Heavenly Queen Mother gave Hou Yi an Elixir of immortality, but she warned him that must use it wisely, because once a person eat it, he or she would immediately fly to the Heaven. Hou Yi didn't want to eat the Elixir, cause he didn't want to leave his wife. He gave it to Chang’e and asked her to keep it safe. However, when Chang’e knew the function of the Elixir, she raised a different idea. One day, Hou Yi went haunting and left Chang’e lone in home. Chang’e ate the Elixir when her husband went outside. Then, she immediately became light, and flies to the sky. The Heavenly Queen Mother was really angry when she knew this. As the punishment, Chang’e was imprisoned in the Moon Palace which is a really cold and lonely place, and she would stay at there forever alone. The Chinese Mid-autumn Festival is used to remember Chang’e, and the Moon one this day each year is round.
