Aristotle proposed ten categories to define that which exists: substance, quality, time, place, position, quantity, state, action, affection, relation. This set of ten plates uses Aristotle's categories as a guide to navigate Samuel Johnson's original 'A Dictionary of the English Language.' The dictionary, as an archive, has no narrative. Starting with the definitions of paper and ink (substance) these cards link to one another forming a linear narrative.
