Layers of Color Layers of History, is an installation that commemorates three historical events that shaped the city of Bogotá and Colombia. The Independence Museum was one of the places which witnessed this events.
First in 1810 the battle that started the colombian independence, the second event was the "Bogotazo" in 1948, where a civil revolution destroyed half of the city, and finally in November 1985 when the Palace of Justice is taken by the guerrilla group M-19.
As light changes in the museum walls, images of every historical period are projected. The luminic effects were made through RGB filters and ink manipulations in every image. The objective of the installation is to allow a reflection between the visitors and the space, and show the audience the stories hidden underneath this physical space.

Capas de Color Capas de Historia es una instalación lúminica que conmemora tres eventos historicos que dieron forma a la ciudad de Bogotá y a Colombia. En primer lugar en 1810 la batalla que inicio a la Independencia del país, el segundo evento corresponde al Bogotazo en 1948, una revolución civil que por poco destruye la mitad de la ciudad, y finalmente en Noviembre de 1985 cuando el Palacio de Justicia es ocupado por la guerrilla del M19.
A medida que la luz cambia en las paredes, se descubren imágenes de cada uno de estos momentos históricos. Los efectos lumínicos son logrados a través de filtros RGB y manipulación de las tintas fotograficas. El objetivo de la intervención es permitirle a los visitantes reflexionar sobre la historia del país y poner en evidencia las historias que permanecen ocultas en un determinado espacio físico.
