Reverse the Tax on Books

In Budget 2016, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador introduced a 10% tax on books. Not only does this tax unfairly target students who are often required to purchase expensive textbooks for their courses, it also targets authors, rural communities, local businesses, and many other groups.

As part of the growing movement against the book tax, NDP MUN has been organizing a series of events on campus and using these materials to aide in both on the ground outreach and in social media efforts.
To suit the issue of books, bookmarks with information about the campaign were designed and distributed outside the campus bookstore as a means to inform and educate students about the issues and to encourage them to get involved.
