Excessive Consumption

EXCESSIVE CONSUMPTION
This project was a collaboration during the annual Agency Week held by the Edinburgh College of Art (ECA). The theme for this year's Agency Week was design and environmental activism. Singular contributions include the design and printing of the receipt and general design and structure of the smaller posters.

Today we are faced with the challenge of tackling excessive consumption in a world with an insatiable appetite for more: with disposable trends and an access to newer and better products more than ever. We are increasingly defined by our material world. But where does this indulgent lifestyle end? By using a combination of traditional and digital methods we have produced a series of receipts that will start a conversation about our caustic habits and re-instill a belief in the power of the individual consumer. We chose the symbol of a receipt. We feel this is the best representation of a physical outcome of consumption. The scale of our largest receipt forces people to look at something they'd usually throw away.
