Honors Senior Thesis Project - 10 Watercolor Paintings
To receive departmental honors in Art at Eastern Michigan University, I had to complete
a senior thesis project. I created twelve watercolor paintings (ten of which are shown here)
that use flowers as a metaphor for female sexuality. I also wrote an 80+ page paper on other
uses of such flower symbolism in art throughout history and different cultures.
In these watercolors, I explored my personal worries, observations, fears, and attitudes of female sexual expression and sexual anatomy, as well as my interpretations of the world's attitudes
and experiences. I want women who are timid or afraid of their sexuality to know that I understand, and I want women who have experienced physical, emotional, or psychological trauma because
of their sexual expression or sexual anatomy to know that I feel for them.
