While studying at SAIT, I took a course called Digital Independent Study. For this course, my task was to study a topic and then create a six-week long project to showcase my work.
I chose to cover the topic of hand-lettering, or the art of drawing out letters. Instead of relying on pre-made typeface, a designer has full control over the style of each letter and word. I’ve always been inspired by pieces created by other designers that utilized hand-lettering, and this project proved to be the perfect time to begin my own exploration into this technique.
For this project, I chose to create five posters in which I would use hand-lettering to illustrate five quotes from several of my favorite books.
