Experimental Display Type

Type Design | Layout | Typography | Print

Blot Sans is an experimental display typeface that is designed to celebrate the psychology of reading and visual perception theories. The letterforms are created using ink on cartridge paper that is then folded to create a beautifully symmetrical and unique letterform. For this project I created a set of psychological cards that display segments of each letter, and a poster that accompanies this that lists other things that people began to see within the letters, much like the famous Rorschach test. A type specimen book was also created to explain the design process and to show off the letterforms when used in complete words.
