Bang! Boom! Bonk! // Gender Neutral Toy Packaging
Bang! Boom! Bonk! is a gender neutral drum set I created for children ages 4-6. I designed four sides of what I thought the packaging would look like, as well as three magazine advertisements I imagined would be in parenting publications. I based my design decisions based off of research regarding gender roles in toys and affinity diagrams organizing what people normally associate with “boy toys” and “girl toys”. I chose a gender neutral color palette that had a balance of darker and lighter colors, and a design that would appeal to both boys and girls. For the advertisements I thought about reasons parents would not want to buy a drum set for their kids, like it being too loud. I then used a simple design and copy to spin that as a reason to purchase it instead.
