Dendrobot is a series of wooden robot figures with different personalities
and sets of skills. Each of them has unique parts made out of different species
of wood. In the era of post-futuristic-war where a bunch of combat robots are
thrown out and trashed, a group of biologists and engineers did a project to
thrown out and trashed, a group of biologists and engineers did a project to
revive these abandoned robots and integrate it to our everyday lives.
The toy and the package design were made to aim target audience
of mainly kids above the age of 7 but not limited to that group age.
Dendrobots appeal to adults as well as collectibles.
Each of the robots' histories are written on the side of the
packaging as well as their stats.
On the back of each box there are illustrations of what each
dendrobots' daily lives might look like.
Following are the concept sketches, iterations, and process of designing
and making Dendrobot. The idea stemmed from my love for wood and
robots and the lack of relationships between two said subjects. People
tend to see machines and robots as cold heartless tool. We as human find
more comfort in wood than in metal, which is interesting because we
share the same minerals that exist in some metals.
Dendrobot is a whole series of 99 different robots. Collect all of them
and create your own little wooden robot town!
