Sosiologi i dag is a scientific thematic-based journal. In this project i had to design covers individually, but design of the inside was made in group. We wanted the journal to appear modern and at the same time serious. To create seriousness in the journal we chose clean but functional design. We use different title levels to differentiate the different parts of the text. We have chosen to use Adobe Garamond Pro for body text, which is a readable font with low x-height. For headlines, we chose a neutral font Helvetica Neue that contrasts with our bodytext.
For covers i chose to use black and white pictures, which also go into the back. I used expressive images that illustrate the theme. I used strong different colors on each volume, which creates great contrast to the pictures. My goal was to create an attractive yet serious design.
