Elucidation Magazine
Elucidation was a collaborative magazine created in Publication Design. The overall goal of this project was to exchange student's knowledge in a certain subject matter with overall layout and design. The cover of the magazine was a competition between the classmate's submissions and my artwork was chosen. I submitted a few designs which you will see below. The artwork that was chosen was the floral design. I used a mixed media approach with a combination of finger painting, india ink and Photoshop.

For my three page spread, I was given the content of "Street Art". I wanted to keep the overall feel of the randomness of street art by using skewed type, paint splatters and bold graphics. The use of large type in the opening page creates an in your face experience, and the last two spreads repeats this with loud colors and graphics.

 Willow Hill
Willow Hill was my final Senior project at York College.

I moved onto a farm during the time I was in school. The farm has such a great personality to it, I knew of no better idea for a project than to give it and identity. My rooster inspired the picture for the logo. I used an image of him to inspire the negative space. Within the negative space of the willow tree is a rooster's tail.

My farm has been selling eggs over the past year and a half. I wanted to create an egg box which can be used to distribute our eggs. After extensive research, I came across egg boxes from the 1920's. I used them as a prototype to design the layout of the boxes.

I also distribute vegetables from our garden and created packaging for the rest of my products. The bags are re-usable grocery totes that can be filled with vegetables. I also designed carrot tags, to add a hint of personality to the product.

The overall goal of the design was to create a unique product unlike other local farms around me. I accomplished this by using bright colors and the bold, slab-serif Clarendon. This typeface also has a vintage feel to it, and helps to create beautiful shapes with type alone.
