Edvard Munch Contest - The 5th Scream
Adobe has asked us to create a 5th version of "The Scream" by Edvard Munch using digitally reproduced versions of Edvard's brushes.

From an artistic standpoint, I chose to head for a mix of abstractionism and realism whilst emulating brush strokes of Edvard Munch.
The concept is one of a personal nature, when I look at the original, I imagine emotional suffering, this led me to create my unique take which centre's on my own personal struggles with mental health.

To put the piece in to context, the mouths screaming is the link to the original whilst giving the viewer an appreciation of the complexity of issues that cause us to want to shout out. As soon as you get to the centre of the image, you find the eyes, lidless and staring, almost accusing you of something, this is the root of my anxiety, an irrational fear that others always judge the person you are so the scream and the anxiety caused by the staring eyes go hand in hand.

I lose myself to work like this when I can find an emotional attachment to the piece and it was also a fun project to move away from my own set of traditional techniques and to instead, try new concepts.

I hope this guide to the image gives you as the viewer, a more in-depth understanding of the driving-force behind the project.

Thank you and good luck to all participants!
