This is my entry into the "5th Scream" contest by Adobe. Inspired by Edvard Munch's
"The Scream" paintings. This is playing on the illusion that Edvard saw in the sky. It's also a play on the "blank stare". I'm calling it "Before The Scream" — This is that moment when you see something so shocking, it stops you in your tracks and captivates you, right before you scream.

I really wanted to focus on the sky and the eyes because that's what stands out the most to me the when I look at Edvard Munch's painting of The Scream.

Here's the animated gif of my process from start to finish. It's a little scary for me to watch this because this shows you all at once if your image got better or worse as it progressed. Haha!

Finally, enjoy some beautiful detail shots below. This background art was created using Kyle Webster's MUNCH brushes and my Digital-Ink Brushes (for the gold foil details).

Detail shots of the painted background using Kyle Webster's MUNCH brushes to mix paint on the canvas, and my own brushes to layer the gold foil strokes on top. This entire piece was created using Adobe Photoshop, a Wacom Cintiq 13HD, and my brain. 😄
