The 5th Scream: Acceptance.

Here is my take on the 5th Scream of Munch.
"Fra min råtnende kropp skal blomster vokse, og jeg er i dem, og dét er evighet"
" From my rotting body, flowers shall grow; and I am in them, and that is eternity. "
- Edvard Munch
I decided to depict Munch at peace with the Scream, putting off the mask of agony and listening to it quietly at last, the scream flowing through his ears.
The fjords, his friends, the city; everything is part of it and his attitude is one of acceptance, and no longer dread. Flowers have grown on his head, maybe because he is dead? Or maybe, as the symbol of his contemplative state…
The red bar on the right always appeared to me like a visual block, forcing us back into the pain. Now it is moved on to the left, because he « turned the page ».

(Call me cheesy, I wanted to soothe Munch’s soul. The poor guy couldn’t catch a break! Maybe if he had a peaceful life, the Scream wouldn’t have been so terrifying?…)

The Scream sounds like a melody to the rested soul.

Done in Photoshop, using Kyle T. Webster's Munch Brushes Pack. Awesome brushes, like always  :)
