As an art director and a guy who spends some time crooning over his guitar, it seemed natural that I would end up eventually looking to frankenstein the two.
In this poster series, I concocted a geeky little mechanism. My intention - to engineer an icon, of sorts, from a song.

The idea was to work my inadequate chordplay off the guitar and onto a piece of paper.

The idea was to work my inadequate chordplay off the guitar and onto a piece of paper.
So, I pulled an excerpt of the chords off a song and linked them, just as they appear.
For example, Led Zeppelin's slightly overplayed yet undoubtedly anthemic Stairway To Heaven has C D F G and Am whispering off Page's guitar early in the song. On my scale, this is what it looks like.

With the colors I hoped to reflect a sense of what I hear in the song. While I figured this wouldn't connect with everybody, this is how they eventually turned out.
