Places to See in Sedona, Arizona

An attorney in Birmingham, Alabama, Edgar (“Ed”) Gentle functions as a partner at Gentle Turner Sexton & Harbison, LLC. In his free time, Ed Gentle enjoys traveling and is particularly fond of Sedona, Arizona.

Famous for its red rocks, Sedona offers a number of spectacular sights, some of which are listed below:

- Cathedral Rock. Sedona’s most iconic rock formation, Cathedral Rock features several tall red spires noticeable from almost anywhere in Sedona. For one of the best vantage points, visitors should go to Red Rock Crossing, which offers great views from the river’s edge.

- Chapel of the Holy Cross. Designed by Marguerite Brunswig Staude, a sculptor and student of Frank Lloyd Wright, the Chapel of the Holy Cross is located on a red sandstone ridge just outside of Sedona. It features a 90-foot cross and large stained glass window.

- Slide Rock State Park. A popular attraction in the summer, Slide Rock State Park boasts a natural waterslide in Oak Creek Canyon as a result of the water wearing away at the rock. The park is also great for sunbathing and picnicking along the water’s edge.
