The third day of the Queensland 2017 trip was a day trip south of Brisbane to Byron Bay and the Gold Coast.
Byron Bay is the easternmost point of the Australian mainland continent and is also quite popular for its' surf beaches. Byron Bay is about one and a half hours south of Brisbane along the highway and will be the first stop for this report.

Cape Byron Lighthouse
The road leading up to the lighthouse is quite windy. Note that it is quite difficult to get car parking near the top due to lack of parking spaces. Most people do decide to park a bit lower down the hill and walk up instead.

Byron Bay town itself is low density in nature with many small roads that give the town an interesting character
About an hour north of Byron Bay is the Gold Coast, another popular Australian tourist destination. The Gold Coast is famous for its distinctive skyline and laid back surf culture.

Apartments are quite popular in the Gold Coast
Making the drive towards Broadbeach, the main surf beach of Gold Coast that is the prime tourist attraction in the area.

The architecture variety on Broadbeach is quite interesting with many apartments incorporating various design elements into their shape. They form a distinctive shape on the Gold Coast skyline.
