Impression of a Dream 

Surreal Expressionism, to me, is a way of creating which enables direct links to worlds beyond conscious grasp.  Much like the Surrealists this endeavor attempts to position what we wish, dream, or are even afraid to face, within reality.  Not merely superimposing a filter on reality, but making those worlds beyond conscious grasp concrete.  This in turn allows for it to become consciously thought of.  

The expressionistic qualities are how you go about placing the inner qualities of the mind into whatever you are creating.  In painting, "I am quick to apply paint," I feel that this nature gives more to capturing inner feelings, imaginings, questions, thoughts, etc. Often simple color pallets lend to more atmospheric and striking paintings, and not representing reality but conveying reality/imagination through the lens of emotion and feelings hearkens to expressionism.
