I sent letters with a blank postcard to family members and friends. I asked each to write a memory in the notecard section of the postcard and send it back to me. Inspired by each of the memories, I created the postcard image.
I folded a single-page blizzard book that allows each of the postcards to slide out, so that eventually the memories can be sent back to their owners.
I also created a sister-book in Adobe InDesign. The two books together are a physical representation of the memories of my family. Facing Altzheimer’s as a family has been a challenge and this book hopes to celebrate the beauty of memories even as they are ever-changing or passed on to someone else. Each postcard will eventually return to the sender who will receive their transformed memory in the mail.
