Hell

Hell is a place for self-reflection, not torture.

In the first painting (hell landscape), there is a bridge that link up hell and temporal world. Hell is a mysterious place but not horror. So I create some magenta floras to match the atmosphere there. After death, a soul will be leaded to hell and cross over the bridge. When it goes through the stone statue, it will lose its memory, and only can remember every mistake it did when alive. There is an area for self-reflection after going out from the main entrance.

In second painting (angel of death), there is an angel of death who sitting on a monster. His job is to lead soul to hell and he is reading a name list now. Not like traditional angel of death with horror face, I create a stylish look for him. In last painting (lift to heaven), there is a lift to heaven with a staff beside. It is a lift for souls which finished self-reflection.

Agoraphobia

Agoraphobia is a fear of open spaces or crowds. In thesetwo paintings, I chose the fear of crowds. I did do some research about somepeople who got this kind of phobia. They feel like, the crowds are allmurderers and rapists to them. Somehow their body just shut down and cannot bemoved when they are walking in the crowds. They cannot even control theirbreath in a small space within a lot of people. Therefore in the first illustration, I tried to createa crowding space and draw with the perspective of this kind of sufferer. I makeall faces turn to the sufferer even though they are all doing their own things.

In the second illustration, I tried to draw with theperspective of a child. Sometimes children have no sense of security in crowds. They will feel afraid when they see so many people. So I made a lot of peoplecrawl out from a child’s eyes. The people are just like the tears of thefrightened child.
