BORN, yet again.
Perhaps, the butterfly is proof that you can go through a great deal of darkness and still become something beautiful. Or so I heard somewhere.
An exploration of Rebirth on a dark, cold day. Butterflies have fascinated me ever since I was a kid, not just by its beauty but by its struggle to attain it through metamorphosis. The memories of my winged friends sparked the ideation process and the realization that their growth is analogous to that of human beings. Butterflies remind me, time and again, that we are reborn every time we choose to let go and allow a chance for change.

I chose soft pastels as it its smoky effect lends well to a surreal feeling. The old newspapers with shades of brown hues indicate a dusty, messy space from which the butterfly arises. In order to create a sense of lightness & break the monotony of the brown color, I cut the paper to create a patterned bloom (the space of rebirth).
