In 1999 I was asked to lead a project to find a new supplier for Car Decals and invstigate opportunities for a refreas as there was an updated Corsa model due to be launched and BSM has used the same design for a number of years. I worked with an Agency called Positive Images who produced several draft proposals. BSM "On a slant" wasn't even on thier short list as they thought it pushing the envelope too much. However I loved it and so did everyone else at BSM. Hence we went "slanty".
I unveiled the design in Wetherby in December 1999 at our Northern conference leading the team out to the car park to see the car for the first time. Until then only a handful of people knew the design!
In 2004 BSM was brought more into the RAC corporate look and feel and our logo and brand colours were adapted to match those of RAC. Out of interest only the letters RAC had been created in the font they use so B S and M had to be specially created. There were a number of designs proposed by the RAC band team all of which were pretty dreadful and once again positive Images produced a stylish update of the earlier design.
This design stayed in use until 2006/7 when BSM moved to using the Fiat 500. There have been several updates to the BSM car decals since then amd the move back to using the Vauxhall Corsa but I'm pleased to say that after going "Flat" for a while BSM has gone back to using an updated version of BSM "on a slant", so even today 13 years on I can still see my influence on the BSM Fleet.
